CT/VT Instrument Transformers
A CT/VT unit combines both instrument transformers into one assembly, so a scheme that needs current and voltage measurement at the same point uses one mounting position instead of two.
Combined CT/VT units put both instrument transformers into a single assembly. Where panel or structure space is limited, that removes one mounting position and one set of connections compared with fitting separate current and voltage transformers.
They are used where a scheme needs both current and voltage measurement at the same point, typically for metering, protection, or network monitoring on a distribution feeder.
Typical applications
-
Revenue and check metering
Where both current and voltage references are needed at one measurement point.
-
Feeder protection
Supplying protection relays that need both inputs to calculate power, direction or impedance.
-
Network monitoring
Providing the measurement basis for load profiling and power quality monitoring.
-
Space-constrained sites
Substations and structures where fitting separate CT and VT assemblies is impractical.
Specifications on request
CT/VT combination units are specified to the application: ratio, accuracy class, burden and insulation level all depend on the network and what the secondary circuits need to feed. Tell us your network voltage, the metering or protection equipment involved, and the accuracy class you need, and we will confirm the right unit, pricing and availability.
