Maintenance & Support
Emergency Breakdown Support
When equipment has failed and supply is off, the priority is restoration, then the cause.
A breakdown is a different job from planned maintenance. Supply is affected, there is pressure to restore it, and the temptation is to get something working and investigate later.
We provide breakdown support on medium-voltage recloser and switchgear installations, with the aim of restoring supply safely and then establishing what actually failed so it does not recur next month.
What breakdown support covers
- Attendance to assess the failure
- Safe isolation and making the installation secure
- Diagnosis of the failed element
- Temporary restoration where it can be done safely
- Permanent repair or replacement
- Root cause assessment after supply is restored
What matters in practice
-
Safety before speed
Restoring supply onto an installation that has not been made safe risks a second, worse event. Isolation and assessment come first.
-
Restore, then investigate
Getting supply back matters, but the cause still needs establishing afterwards, or the same failure returns.
-
Spares availability
Holding the right spares locally is what turns a multi-week wait into a same-week repair.
-
Records help
Equipment with a documented commissioning and maintenance history is meaningfully faster to diagnose under pressure.
Worth knowing
If equipment has failed and supply is affected, phone us on 010 006 8303 rather than using the enquiry form. A breakdown needs a conversation, not an email queue.
